Room Refresh Tips
If you have a little to no budget but still want a space refresh, there are ways you can accomplish this without breaking the bank or doing a whole overhaul.
First things first, give the room in need a good deep clean. Dust the cobwebs up top to baseboards down low. Vacuum, sweep, mop - do all the things your mama taught you to do. Put things away where they’re supposed to go, or hide them away in baskets or under the bed storage. Hell, clean the walls as if you were prepping to paint.
Which brings me to the next point, a fresh coat of paint is another budget friendly solution to making a space feel fresh. If you aren’t able to paint because you’re renting, experiment with wallpaper. If it’s a bathroom, they have removable vinyl flooring that can really elevate a space and ooh pair it with fun wallpaper and you’ll never want to leave the loo.
You can also never underestimate the power of rearranging a room. Whether it’s as simple as moving your desk or bed to another wall. A change of layout can change your perspective and can even make the space more functional. Try it out for a few days and if it doesn’t work out you can try something else or move things back.
Changing out your linen, either bed or curtains, can also go a long way to make that room feel new. If you currently only have one kind of curtain panel, adding in another texture will create more interest in a room and add in a lot more depth with the different layering of textures. You can also go further to change out the hardware of your curtain rods or the knobs on your drawers to make the space feel new.
And then, when in doubt - buy a new plant friend. There’s something about adding a bit of green to a space that brings life to the space. Even if you’re intimated by the care of a real plant, the faux plants and flowers have gotten pretty good at faking it. I have a couple hard to reach (and easy to forget) spots where I have a faux plant in and from far away you wouldn’t even know.
